Ok, here's the basic idea:
Final Fantasy has some great tunage, very few tracks of which are overlooked at all. But if any of them are, it's gotta be The Prologue. So let's hum it in glorious unison, fuckers. But here's the catch:
EVERYONE ON THE SITE MUST CONTRIBUTE.
That's right. I want to see at least two dozen people contributing to this project. I won't be satisfied until everone that we know as regulars (basically you know who you are -- if you've been mentioned in a DMS or asslicker mix, you need to be in this) has contributed.
To consolidate everything and make life as easy as possible, I've allocated some space on olremix for us to use. Here's how you get there:
ftp: ftp.olremix.org
user: prologue@olremix.org
pass: contribute
(Everyone needs to be super careful with this once we get going though, because you'll have the ability to delete things other people have uploaded. ftp stores logs of everything so if you fuck with this I'll find you and punch your cat in the face.)
How to contribute
Grab the .midi file, a recording program and a microphone. Hum along. Save the results as .wav (great quality, huge file) or .mp3 (not so good quality, but small and easy to manage). Upload to the ftp server.
If you have absolutely no idea how to use ftp, email as an attachment to imdumbisuckattehinternet@paletteswap.com (seriously).
omg will we make this in time to be mix #200???? I hope so. BTW, soon I will be posting myself humming so you can hear an example.

So, what exactly do we do? Hum a section? Or the entire thing? Does it matter if there is noise in the background (cuz I can record anytime, I just need silence)?

1. Record your humming over the whole midi (do the lead). We'll perform mixing magic on it later.
2. Best quality you can muster. We don't exactly expect you to rent out a studio, but if your dog is barking in the background, start again.
3. Try your best to record just your voice; none of the midi playing.
We're probably gonna want a few people to do the other parts (not the lead).
