My name is GestaltReplicant. I'm originally from ZeldaInformer, but I want to get out to a more...interesting community. I love(d) it there, but they're doing "quality drives" and shit to make it all respectable, and it doesn't roll with me. Also the admin's a bit of a prick.

So instead of being the only internet-ish member of a site trying to be respectable, I've decided to migrate over and join a site that embraces the fact it's in the crapper.

Here's a sample of the kind of lovely music I can contribute to your site (it was a message to the community at ZI, so ignore that).

sup. You're kinda late to the party. and eat it, too! sad mario
We're only a few regulars left, kinda like a super seekrit clubhouse, we hardly ever get any new guise. So this makes you awesome.

If you wanna contribute, submit whatever stuff you have, or participate in this month's OLRmageddon, or help out with our two site projects.

Have fun while it lasts! do the truck hop!

Wow - THE Brunzo. This is kind of weird...

Hey, this place will last forever - even if it's just me making threads and replying to my own posts like some kind of disturbing testament to internetal sorrow.

It'll be weird participating in and OLRmageddon, but I'll give it a shot. Thanks for the welcome!

Well...

You're less "renowned" and more..."infamous". Yeah - that's the word. Your cover of "Small Two of Pieces" is definitely something (among many others).

You're an inspiration to budding horrormongers everywhere.

what is a zelda informer and why would anyone go to it?

to answer this question, i googled "zelda informer" and read about 15% of its article on the... zelda community wiki? wow these motherfuckers are seriously handicapped

i have an entirely new question for you: why would you visit a website devised by people who call themselves "zelda theorists"

"theorists." are you shitting me? really? "let's make a circlejerking blog about what we speculate might be going on with a tired 25-year-old intellectual property"

welcome to olr, please talk about toejam and earl instead. we are better than your friends!

HA, I used to lurk Zelda Universe and ZeldaInformer. Mostly for the theorizing section, since it was kind of like seeing all of the different references they put in all the Zeldas taken way too far, to the point of arguing for absolutely no reason. I still agree with Lex's 30 timeline analysis; I think I have the pdf saved somewhere...

However, I stopped going to ZI since I sent them the link to OCR's Threshold of a Dream and they never posted it or even acknowledged the action of me sending it to them, whereas ZU put it up as soon as whomever finally got around to checking their mailbox, so yeah; shame they are losing people though! I still browse the Zelda Wiki from time to time, although I shy away from it when a new Zelda is coming out since I don't want too much spoilers/spectulation to ruin my own experience with the game.

also, spam all you want; I haven't seen the boards this red with flaming swords in quite a long time. plus, tarrasque don't you know it's in the OLRmageddon rules that you have to spam and get ten posts to vote?

anyway, WELCOME! we aren't half of what we used to be but we enjoying drinking the nostaglia bottle like everyone else in society Vroom!

what is it with the "tarrasque you didn't read the fine print, i'm actually a saiyan dinosaur after all and you are wrong as hell!" phenomenon lately? after writing all that olrm shit you should all know by now that i don't read anything and i never have any idea what i'm talking about ever. actually that rule probably only exists because of that time a few months back where i made my friends join and upvote my terrible chex mix thing to pay me back for fixing the goddamn irc server.

anyway hello jedirefrigerator, most communities would be appalled if you introduced yourself by saying "hello, i am the garbage a different community is in the process of disenfranchising, so i ought to fit in here just fine!" but, and i can't speak for these other fruits, i am already fond of you because you hate fanboy politics. i realize i only gave your alma mater a casual glance but i'm pretty sure they're big faggots. i'll take your word for it if you take mine.

but no really let's talk about toejam and earl. i think identifying fudge sundaes early is key to beating the game as earl, since lategame he has trouble dodging ice cream trucks and boogeymen. one overlooked OH YEAHHHHH use of the randomizer is rerolling a bad early game, but i don't think the strategy sees much use because by the time you've ID'd it, you're either playing fixed world (and don't need a reroll) or you've ID'd a bunch of other presents in the process, and two bucks per present + all the time (and resources, obviously) spent quaff-testing the others = not worth it in most scenarios. if, at the end of the game, you have like 30 bucks, an inventory full of garbage like spring shoes and rootbeer, and the only presents you've left on the ground are crap too, and you NEED icarus wings to pass level 23, AND none of the "legit" mailboxes sell them, it may be your only hope! discuss

Huh, that Xenogears one... Interesting. I was just 15 when I made that, how the time flies.

ToeJam & Earl is awesome. I always play as TJ. I never got too far though, I always failed in the later levels. I prefer Panic on Funkotron, albeit a totally different genre.
But seeing as you're an enthusiastic walking encyclopedia concerning TJ&E, I assume it's your favourite game ever, T?

Anybody?

Anyway. Welcome to the club. Be sure to visit the latest owner of this establishment, Xenon, to pay your respects, and make sure to tip our bouncer, SoloGamer, so he doesn't boot your ass out.

I'll be your waitress this evening.

Tarrasque, your personality is exactly as I imagined it. Only someone who would think to combine the Sonic 3 Carnival theme with the "need cash now" commercial could speak as beautifly as you. Crying or Very sad Truly, you are a wonderful example for neurotics everywhere.

Yeah, I'm not the trash of ZI - I'm the motherfucking antichrist. They're currently discussing ways in which they can burn and rape me on multiple threads.

So where do I find Xenon Odyssey?

actually my favorite game ever would have to be Planescape: Torment but i have an encyclopedic knowledge of all kinds of neat shit that i like. for example, i am probably the only guy who knows about the highly situational glitch with nightcrawler's teleportation in conjunction with his diagonal arrow kick in X-Men 2: Clone Wars, one of the most fantastic video games for the sega genesis. also i know that completing the hidden and non-mandatory Nakatomi rescue mission in Star Trek: The Next Generation: Echoes from the Past has no effect on gameplay, but checking your sensor data after the freighter departs will display corrupted data that was not overwritten with new strings, probably because the developers did not anticipate that players would actually be able to complete the mission due to its overwhelming difficulty. to my knowledge, i am the only person alive who has completed the mission on actual Genesis hardware; the person who wrote the most thorough guide on Gamefaqs, somethingsomethingDragon i think, did not complete the nakatomi mission and used an emulator, and the only other person who claimed to have beaten the mission died many years ago in a car accident.

other exemplary games for the system are Puggsy, Light Crusader, and Gunstar Heroes, among many others, ask me later sometime and i will talk your ears completely the fuck off (so for best results ask very specific questions, like "where is the Large Area Zorcher in the first Chex Quest game" or "have you tried beating gunstar heroes using only melee attacks")

quite. it's storytime again: one time i let a girl borrow my headphones in the library because she wanted to listen to The Cloud Song, that hundred-year-old flash animation. when she handed them back, i commented that FF7 had the complete package: an iconic soundtrack, fantastic visuals (blocky polygons aside, it was the late 90s shut up), engaging story, neat gameplay mechanics with the materia and all... and the only character who sucked was aeris and thankfully she died. i noted that the series suffered overmuch from faggoted fan syndrome, and that i had no interest in joining the heated debate over which game was better 7 9 or 10, but that i preferred 7 all the same, and that i hoped it would remain a landmark title in video gaming history.

like two hours later we were still talking except now we were outside sitting up in a huge tree and my shoes were off and she had pretty much decided we were married. let me tell you something, i am all about women deciding that i am their destined lover, so the fact that i avoided her like the plague from that day forward speaks very clearly to my disdain for people who devote 30% of an afternoon's conversation to the FF7 yaoi fanfic they've thought about but never written. if you ever meet me, please introduce yourself as "hello i'm sean, toejam and earl is neat, BUT ENOUGH TALK! do you want to go burn things now?" if you do that, i will show you the world and never stop.

no not you. dasaten was all "well tarrasque if you think sick animals are funnier than i am, READ THE RULES AND WEEP! by god if we let degenerates like you fuck around here, then the rest of us must be guaranteed infinite leeway in everything we do, it's the law and also you're a dick." i summarily agreed with his sentiment but that is beside the point.

Why the hell is it called Clone Wars though?! Clone Wars was a Spider Man storyline. The enemy in this game is the Phalanx, not clones of Spider Man.

probably a cash-in or more likely a playful ripoff of Star Wars 2: Clone Wars than any attempt to follow an arc. during development, like from reviewing all the betas, you can see that Headgames was mostly just showing off the neat stuff they could do with the hardware - the earliest "complete" elements in the game were music tracks, and one beta features a mock-up battle with Mr. Sinister, who does not appear at all in the finished product, and another beta demonstrates that at some point in developing the actual gameplay they decided to give characters SUPAR ATTAX they could only use while at full health, and trying to use psylocke's notably causes the game to crash after executing the warmup animation. the decision to use the phalanx at all was likely last-minute and done in an effort to tie all their finished game elements together into a coherent plot. the phalanx are a convenient deus ex if you need a reason to reuse the same 7 enemy types; "they're clones motherfucker!!! also the brood are numerous and identical too so there you now have many plausible foes!!"

like, the end boss fight with the brood queen was debugged and identical to the retail version in an earlier beta than the one wherein the decision was made to move Asteroid M from being the first act to being the third. so

i can speak more about this subject. for instance, i can talk about the fact that they designed editing tools for like everything but sprites, which was kind of a ground-breaking practice back then. in several of the betas, you can play with every aspect of the game's sound processing module, like making alterations to the properties of the tones it generates for each instrument.
